Whatever Miers' qualifications, the inept manner in which the Bush Administration handled the nomination does not speak well for their PR skills. That they would not try to trump the morning shows by announcing her withdrawal before they came on the air is unsurprising. It would be unwise for the Administration to delay a replacement nominee.
