Veterans should establish a political party and offer candidates at all levels.
They're the only group that is large enough and has the appropriate background to be trusted with power.
Right now, there's a monopoly of lawyers in power in both parties, and that is not working well.

Wow, sounds like that's right out of Starship Troopers, which didn't necessarily espouse an illegitimate political system, imo.
