To: Republic of Texas
As soon as someone picks a high-profile fight, the media swarms and that person becomes a lightening rod for criticism and cannot get needful work done.

I believe the more effective ones are doing work behind the scenes away from the cameras. Unfortunately, conservatives are attracted by sensationalism just as much as liberals and want to see a "fight".

In reality, a lot has been done by Bush et al over the last years. Keeping us out of Kyoto alone was a huge accomplishment, but Freepers hardly mention it.

You are correct that work has to be done behind the scenes, but the people must also be led from the front. Maybe Frist is uncomfotable with that, if so, he should not have volunteered for a LEADERSHIP position.
