I didn't say that (the Hillary moron) was an insult to the pro-Miers crowd. What I meant is that it set EVERYBODY off, after that point the thread was absolutely crazy! From that point on, no matter whether you were a pro, anti, or wait-and-see, everyone posted based on emotions rather than logic. I have only seen that kind of thing once before, and that was on a Schaivo thread.

The Miers announcement Live Thread should have a permanent link on the FR home page to show what happens when we all fly off the handle.

Fair enough. But I don't think we should all lament a little internal conflict. I believe that independent (small "i") thinkers must refuse to merely fall in line.
Obviously, one would prefer to keep it impersonal, but humans will be humans.
