She has very impressive credentials, but I imagine she would not make it out of committee since Specter has already said that both Brown and Owen would fail the "gang of 14"'s test for "extraordinary" if they were offered as a Supreme Court nominee.

Specter needs to be read the Riot Act.

BTW, can anyone imagine the Democrats allowing a conservative member of their party to even sit on the judiciary committee, let alone serve as chairman?

Damn, I'm sure glad we get all these brownie points for being the party that plays nice (even as our rivals break every rule in the book).

Again, my sister, you are probably right.

Unfortunately, there were a total of ELEVEN republican senators (with McCain) who were willing to work against any nuclear option. See #823 this thread.

That is an insurmountable obstacle unless God intervenes.

But...would the black community permit the savaging of a smart, successful, black female who was reelected in her own state with a 70+% vote.
