LOL........I was laughing about that to myself; they just assume we'd all fall in line.
Oh, they "won" this round; but I'm not sure they realize what the "prize" is going to be. :-)
Two comments this AM before work:
1) O'Conner will now hear and decide on the Church&State and Parental Notification cases. I doubt this forum will reach consensus on who might be responsible for whatever results come from that. Great opportunities for SDO'C to write swan-song majority opinions.
2) I do hope this forum combines with the pundits and the next nominee to apply pressure where it belongs, with all the vehemence we have seen for the last few weeks: the Senate. There lies the source of weakness that the President took into account with the Mier's nomination. Already Trent Lott was on screen signalling that 'very conservative' nominees (by name, Owens or Brown) might not be the 'wisest' choices, implying that the constitutional option is not a done deal at all.
If the "prize" is seeing people like you leave the GOP, threaten away--I bet we'll all lose a lot of sleep over that. Maybe a wink, total. We wouldn't lose anything, because the only time you RINOs 'fall in line' for conservatives is to screw us on close votes in Congress and beg for handouts from your RNC pals. We'll get along fine without you RINO booby prizes. I don't know a soul around here who misses Lowell Weicker.
She was graduated from Cornell University, and then attended Harvard and Columbia Law Schools. She taught law at Rutgers and Columbia Universities. She became a clerk for a U.S. district judge and taught law, becoming the first female tenured professor at Columbia School of Law. She then became a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals, a position she held until she was appointed to the Supreme Court.
Who is she? Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Those throwing around complaints that Harriet Miers did not have just such a background have now set a precedent in which nominees for the court must ONLY a background such as Ms. Ginsberg's. Although the Court was graced with many, many "common" people in its history, it never will be again.
You don't get it.
No one "won" anything. This was bad all the way around. Starting with the President's decision.
It just seems to get worse with him.
To win, I think were all going to have to wait until 08. And at this rate, were going to need a damn good candidate, and a lot of luck.
