Congrats to the White Sox. I was at Game 4, and it was another squeaker. History won't show it (since sweeps are remembered as blowouts), but these were good close games. The White Sox just played a bit better than my 'Stros, and that's what will ensure that they are remembered. My hat's off to them. I wanted Houston to get to the Big Show, and we did. Mind you, I certainly wasn't hoping for a sweep, but it is what it is.

I am very proud of Backe. The Sox figured out that if you pitch around Berkman, there is no Houston offense. Let the celebration begin in Chicago (just keep cows away from any flammable material). :)

You'll be happy to know that some Houston fans, at least those in my section, applauded the World Champion White Sox. I then also stayed for a "Houston!" "Astros!" chant. Not how I envisioned this Series going down, but the White Sox played good ball and came up with the clutch hits and great pitching.

It's somehow poetic that the Astros' season ended with a 1-0 loss. It's a closed circle. We began the season with a poor record, and it ended with a sweep. I am at peace with the way things turned out. I am very proud of my team as we had many classic games this year--ones I will remember forever with pride. Even the ones we lost.

The White Sox have waited a long time for this moment. Enjoy it. Maybe the Baseball gods will see fit to give the 'Stros a rematch next year with the White Sox as they did this year with the Cards.

My husband has been a life-long Sox Fan. He is in the outback of Australia and listened via the internet at a dive shop. A dream for our whole family. Remembering Bill Veeck and Mary with the best of White Sox memories. An amazing night!!!! My son was watching with the son of Dahl. Life is sometimes far stranger than fiction.

"History won't show it (since sweeps are remembered as blowouts), but these were good close games."

I agree. As a lifelong White Sox fan, living in Europe, I had to get up in the middle of the night and follow it by the play-by-plays on mlb.com, and I could still see that it was a close series. They were tense games, particularly #3. The Astros made it real tough for my Sox. They and their fans are sad right now, but when that wears off some they should take pride in a good series.

I could clearly hear the applause on television. Very classy of Astros fans...

"He is in the outback of Australia and listened via the internet at a dive shop"

Now that is an interisting situation to be in.

Why am I picturing this US guy going nuts in a dive shop in the outback of Ausy? Would love to be there to see that. I have friends there and I talk with them almost every day and they still don't understand our compassion for sports.

I really enjoyed your comments.

Congratulations to the Astros and their fans on a great year! Look, winning a pennant for the first time is A GREAT THING! That's quite an accomplishment in itself. And the Astros have a good nucleus of younger players to go with veterans like Biggio, who seems to have some gas left in the tank. (Don't know that Rocket or Bags will be back, though.) And what, Berkman, Pettitte, Backe--Texas guys and key guys, both.
