while he stared at 15 horse carcasses lying in between fences on the
barren hillsides: There were no vultures circling and coyotes hadn't
devoured them.

Given the fact that I just read an article on terrorism in the food supply with specifics on gassing them, I'm paranoid. Any autopsies performed?

Click the link and read the whole story, and you'll have your answer, although the necropsies didn't really tell much.

I read "necropsies" but it didn't ring the "autopsy" bell. What's the difference?

Well, if it's lightning, couldn't the authorities consult the NWS to see if there were any lightning strikes in the area during the time the horses died?

No. This is a horse story. Alien thingies, from what I understand are long, thing, and have little suckers on them.
I don't think we're supposed to discuss thingies here, though, of any kind.

I think we all are missing the obvious....these 15 horses did what the whales do.....they beached themselves.
