I think you're missing the point. The whiners were complaining about ice and water, and other things. They weren't complaining about not being told to evacuate.

So, if they'd been prepared, they wouldn't need ice or water THE DAY AFTER the hurricane. They ignored the warnings to prepare and then they have the gall to complain that the gov't is not supplying them with what they should have supplied for themselves.

Well, I remember hearing the state of Florida talking about how they have ice and emergency supplies available at points all over the state and they're regularly replenished before emergencies. Couple that reassuring talk with the expectation that this storm was not going to do much damage to the heavily populated southeast coast, and it seems churlish to criticize them for believing the governor, who also couldn't have planned for a big hit on an area with 5 million people despite what the state was saying.

I also wonder why people CARE so much about whether people, hit by a hurricane, are complaining. No one makes you watch the news. Turn it off if they bother you.
