She really is far away. I have a brother in San Diego (we call him our misguided Texan). I can understand his attraction to the area because it really is beautiful and the climate is nice. Yes, DFW is kind of flat and brown from the air compared to your area. I'm about 100 miles south of Dallas, and it's more hilly and green (unless there's a drought). We're keeping our fingers crossed that W will pick our area (Waco) for his presidential library.

It's interesting flying from CA to Texas, across Arizona and NM through west Texas. Very brown and desolate looking from the air.

I love driving though. There is stark beauty in the rock formations and barrenness of the area. This whole country is just amazing (well, NE Utah and NW Colorado aren't so very nice.......sorta like Siberia without snow.....)

But Ohio..........ahhhh........ :)
