MEET THE WILSONS
Up until three years ago, Joe and Valerie Wilson looked like just another upscale couple on the Washington scene, juggling serious jobs while keeping up with 2-year-old twins. He was a former ambassador turned international business consultant. She was an analyst for a Boston-based energy company a working soccer mom, in the view of one of her neighbors.
As it turns out, Valerie really was a clandestine CIA agent and an expert on weapons of mass destruction, exactly the threat that Bush held out as the primary justification for going to war in Iraq. And, as it turns out, Joes experience as an African envoy also made him a player.
CIA officials asked him to travel to Africa in February 2002 to check out a report that Niger sold uranium to Iraq in the late 1990s for use in nuclear weapons. Wilson quickly concluded the report was bogus. (Documents related to the purported sale later were exposed as a forgery.)

But in that instant, her career as a covert officer was over.
Then came the question that wont go away: Who outed Valerie Plame?
Wilson himself speculated last year that the leak might have come from Elliott Abrams, a figure in the Reagan administration Iran-Contra affair and now a member of Bushs National Security Council.
He said another possibility was that a lower-level official in Cheneys office John Hannah or David Wurmser leaked Plames identity at the behest of higher-ups to keep their fingerprints off the crime.
I really wish the lamestream media would get together and agree on whether she was a desk jockey or a clandestine field agent... jeez...keep the propganda straight... ;)
Why did Wilson out his wife and why is Fitz not interested?
Not this crap again. Her career as a "covert" agent never began.
Is "female covert CIA agent" an euphemism for "CIA hooker?"
hmmm...I know who I think is guilty of treason.
I'm still betting the Leakee was Hillary.
Not true.. She did work in europe as a covert agent..
She was allegedly on a list supplied to russians by Aldridge Ames in '94..
She was "pulled" from covert service in '96, and returned to the states.. re-assigned to the State Dept. for a while, and finally ended up running a "front" company for the CIA..
Her actual Covert status probably ended in '97 or '98..
She married Wilson in '98, and began working in DC area, sometime around then she began working at the DC offices proper as an analyst for the Dept of WMD..
Best guess, she falls under the category of having been a covert agent more than 5 years (or close) prior to her identification as a CIA "employee" in '03..
She has been employed in the category of analyst or "Deputy Director" of CIA's WMD dept. which would make her "non covert" status..
Of course, that's just my opinion, I'm not a lawyer, nor a politician..
some advice for President Bush...
BURN
THE
TAPES
And her CIA section on WMDs was horridly bad. They missed both Pakistan and India's developement of nukes until the undeniable tests.
She and her section were incompetent.

Good point.. "History of CIA investigations on WMD, 1998-2005.."
I recall reading about how the russians would actually "assign" their female operatives to "marry" someone with connections to secret information in order to keep track of them, learn intel, etc..
I wonder if Valerie Plame was set up with Joe Wilson by the CIA in order to keep tabs on him??
Maybe that's her "covert" status??
Scott Ritter married a Russian National. His security clearance is nil. And yet he is quoted as a source by the numbskull left.
It is a technique, and the left denies it.
DK
It was Keiser Sorze'
And lose the billing records (at least until you need them).
I don't think the word "clandestine" has any meaning in this it is the author's attempt to avoid the word "covert" which is the CIA terminology. Plame was not a covert CIA Agent.
In which case her "cover" was not exposed.
And then fell in love with him? I doubt we set up marriages, but falling in love, well, that could happen...
