That's what I told my husband. Since we'll be waiting till tomorrow, it'll probably be awful weather while we're doing preparations.

My folks have a story from years ago about a hurricane "surprise" that picked up speed and changed direction in the middle of the night. Don't know what storm it was, but evidently they went to bed thinking all was well, and woke up to find that the hurricane was headed our way and was moving fast.

They tell about making outside preps as the wind increased and the rain poured. Talked to them today in Atlanta, they're glad they're on vacation and missing any excitement, but we'll have to go over to their place tomorrow and make some preparations if it seems like it's going to give us problems.

Almost funny....almost

..as soon as Max Mayfield finished, and we heard 'Hurricane Watch' as far as Titusville on the east coast (my neck of the woods)...

..the sky darkened, as if on cue, and thunder started & it's raining.

...until then, it's been a calm, slightly overcast, non rainy type day.

Movement since the last eye fix (1:21 ago) - North (11 degrees) at 4.3 mph. This eye fix puts Wilma approximately 12 miles from the Gulf and 23 miles northwest of Cancun.

Also, add Lake Okeechobee to the hurricane watch area (somehow, the NHC left it off initially, but did a special update).
