Thanks! Just finished rearranging the deck furniture around the pool.

Photos out of Broward today showed some nasty flooding. Hurricane there last night too.

Yeah, I was hoping that they would post the Alpha thread since I didn't see it in a search.

Have my hands full with Wilma. No way I was going to start another thread for Alpha at this point in time.

"a hurricane "surprise" that picked up speed and changed direction in the middle of the night"

That may have been Cleo back in the early 60's. We were just kids then, but were vacationing in the Bahamas with our parents. We fled the storm to a motel in Lauderdale, the storm made an unexpected left turn, followed us right into south Florida, arriving just hours after we did, missing entirely the island we fled.

The forecasting is a little better now than then, luckily.

Mayor Nagin again?

At least they made the attempt, but it looks like it was too late. When the announcement was made they were sending the planes, I thought they were cutting it close. Apparently, I was right, because they closed the airport and some people trying to get out were stranded.

I don't have one setup but I don't mind starting one if I knew how. Does anybody know how to setup a "ping" list? Usually I just start a thread when a big snowstorm is brewing for New England.

Speaking of which, there are rumors out there that interior New England might get some accumulating snow about midweek.

The planes brought as many as they took out. There was one report on this thread of people still checking in as the storm closed.

Although I seldom post on these threads, I follow them when I can. You have done a magnificent job with them! I recommend that we double your pay for this season ... ;-)

When TS Beta comes along, I suggest we call it Bubba. TS Algore and TS Bubba. Sounds about right.

I can imagine that Okeechobee is included, that black line (that we're not supposed to pay too much attention to) goes right through it almost.

Just saw my neighbor with his leaf blower piling up leaves. Struck me funny.

Going with wife to the fishing club Halloween Party in awhile, strangely. Haven't decided what to go as, maybe a "liberal" would be scary enough. You'd think we'd have all outgrown that kind of stuff by now...though I suppose it's just another excuse to have a drink.

NautiNurse just told me how to setup a ping list so you can consider yourself the first addition to my New England snowstorm ping list.

I'll ping you around December sometime!

The day I outgrow that stuff is the day they shovel the dirt in.

"Very understandable"

Indeed. My sis and nieces are terrified by the extreme weather of Florida. The little one is especially terrified about the lightning and tornadoes. But otherwise they still love it up there in Weston.
