It is not a matter of skin color, it is a matter of idealogy. A better question would be; Why do predominantly liberal universities hire such wackos?
NCSU is pretty conservative as universities go. They're much less liberal/socialist than neighbors UNC and Duke.
Also, could the fine professor and local entrepreneur answer one question for me if he's lurking tonight? What about mixed race children? Are they part of the problem to be killed or are they OK?
