Psalms 14:1-3, referenced by Paul in Romans 3.

1 The fool says in his heart, "God does not exist."
They are corrupt; their actions are revolting.
There is no one who does good.

2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the human race
to see if there is one who is wise,
one who seeks God.

3 All have turned away;
all alike have become corrupt.
There is no one who does good,
not even one

So while we must strive to be perfect, there is tacit understanding that every man fails and every man is flawed. This keeps the believer humble and does not allow us to criticize those that have not yet been saved.

"I was surprised to hear the quote on Fox News earlier, and wonder what will happen when NARAL complains to Starbucks...."

I hope they do and the MSM picks it up and publicizes the quote. The wider the dissemination the more the seed is planted and the greater the harvest. If God can use an ass to get His message across He can use a good cup of coffee.

You remind of the kid from my athletic days who was always bothering the coach to let him in the game, and when the coach sends him in he starts to cry to come out.

Just a Joke PM.

Some people on this thread think heaven is a dinner party for 8 and they get to review the guest list.

LOL! I'm just surprised some of these people have Internet access in their mountaintop monastery. Apparently they would rather have God banned from Starbucks.

I agree! It's sad to see Christians attacking one another, instead of realizing that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood...". We should realize that there is one Bible, but different flavors of churches.

We don't have pipe organs at my church, some churches do. I think as long as the music draws people to worship God, it's all good. Some people wear shorts and flip-flops to my church -- (GASP! Say it isn't so!!!) -- but you know what? Those same young people are the same people that are holding Bible studies and preaching on their college campuses, seeing people that were on there way to Hell now on their way to Heaven.

Lots of self-righteousness in the air -- reminds me of a Steve Taylor song from 1993 called "Smug". Here are some of the lyrics:

All you smug-starved millions in the thick of the search
Welcome to our church
Whatcha wanna solve?
We can help you evolve from merely self-righteous
To perfectly smug

Strike the proud pose of our country club brethren
Friendly as a tomb
Fragrant as the bottom of a locker-room broom
Now what's the matter?
Hey...get off your knees...
That part don't come 'til later...
God will not be pleased...

Would you care to point out the false assertions made in the quote?

(... crickets ....)

Some people on this thread would have you think that Rick Warren is worse than Zaccheus.

And some people think that "St. Rick" was nailed to a cross for our sins, and walks on water during his sermons. < /stereotypes>. Now that we have that out of the way...

Starbucks will do anything for the "Bucks $$$$", but they WON'T SEND COFFEE TO OUR TROOPS IN IRAQ! They claim it's their stance against the war. Another We Support Our Troops, BUT......

Urban Legend. I'm sure you also believe that Crest is run by Satanists, KFC donates to the Klan, and Tommy Hilfiger doesn't want Asians to wear his clothes.

You can get coffee from Star bucks for less than that. I don't like the taste of their coffee -- too strong, too bitter --

I pay $1.45 for the "tall" fresh brewed coffee where we live. Not all their coffee is strong and bitter. They have a couple of mild blends and some medium ones that are actually quite good.

Does anyone know exactly what is going to be on the coffee cups
Is it going to be quotes directly from the Bible?Or is it going to be quotes from Warren or his book?
Is his name going to be referenced?

I heard recently that Rick Warren's agenda for a global faith is in step with UNESCO's. Anyone else heard this?

Never knew that about In-and-out, I'll look for that next time I am there (maybe 1 a month indulgence).

Hmmm, double-double with grilled onions. There was always a line at the (2) I used to pass by on my evening commute.

Never a line at the nearby McDonalds. Wonder why? ;-)

I'm surprised that Rick Warren hasn't rewritten the Ten Commandments to be the "10 suggestions".

My pastor has warned against The Purpose Driven Life as works righteous and legalistic, full of Law, but without Gospel

So what is your pastor's name? And what denomination, if any does he belong to?

If we did a google search on him or the denomination I wonder if we would find some objectionable statements or positions.

"Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He wanted you alive and created you for a purpose."

Oooohhh, sounds perfectly Calvinistic. I wonder if he would include Judas in that coffee cup statement? How many of the neeners would agree with that statement? ;O)

But I'm sure sales were way up in Sodom on the Sound when they had the "Life is too short..." quote for gays on the cups!
