Just saw the local news update on Wilma with the 11 PM update. The local weather guys here use a radar system called VIPIR which apparently has hurricane modeling capabilities - they do runs with it with every broadcast. Are you familiar with this system, and how would you evaluate it's capabilities? The latest VIPIR model has Wilma on essentially the same track as the NHC does, but has it coming in much slower - it still has the storm near Cuba on Sunday, while the NHC has it near or already off the east coast.

a radar system called VIPIR

WFLA ch8 in Tampa uses it; Steve Jerve and VIPIR called Charlie's jog into Punta Gorda last year. They haven't been nearly as close since.
