'Help! Mom!' casts liberals as villains (RAT whining won't stop author from writing more)

'Help! Mom!' casts liberals as villains
By Cheryl Wetzstein
The Washington Times
Published October 16, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Katharine DeBrecht, a married mother of three, wanted to make a point about the importance of conservative values.

So, she penned a children's book -- "Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed!" -- to stand up to the "liberal agenda that's being thrown at our kids from the left."

**SNIP**

Liberals have lambasted the book as "brainwashing" and "Nazi propaganda." The Democratic Underground Web site listed Mrs. DeBrecht as one of its "Top 10 Conservative Idiots" last month.

"If ever there was a book that public libraries should ban, it is this one," one outraged reviewer wrote on Amazon.com.

Sheldon Rampton of the Center for Media and Democracy, a watchdog for corporate propaganda in Madison, Wis., voiced concern about marketing the book to children.

"If this were a parody for adult entertainment, I would see it as that. But if this is a book that is actually intended for kids to read, then I think there's a problem with it," Mr. Rampton said.

Children aren't necessarily sophisticated enough to understand these kinds of policies, and "liberals under the bed" sounds like "monsters under the bed," Mr. Rampton said. "Kids have enough real things that their parents need to teach them to stay away from."

Mrs. DeBrecht, who is active in South Carolina Republican politics, said she is too busy working on her next books to be bothered by liberal "whining."

"Help! Mom! Hollywood Is in My Hamper," which takes on politicking liberal celebrities, is due in March, she said, and lawyers and judges soon will be the stars of their own "Help! Mom!" books.

This may interfere with the liberal propaganda taught in public schools. "You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you."

Nazis, communists, Islamofascists, dictators, slavemasters and the American liberal "mainstream" all have a visceral fear of the same things........

LOSING POWER and the TRUTH !!

My 9-year-old immediately recognized the Hillary look-a-like, and thought the book was hilarious. I asked him to look at it and let me know if he thought that other kids would like it. He was skeptical at first, thinking that a political children's book would not be very interesting. However, from page 1 on he did not put the book down, and offered an unqualified endorsement upon finishing it!

It's amazing how liberals respond when confronted with the truth! Then again, how else would idiots ever respond in less than shrill shrieks about how they are being oppressed, and that we don't understand?

The first step lib's take is to indoctrinate children in schools with their BS. That a conservative will be victorious on the battle field from the very first shot is upsetting their whole apple cart!

Happy Sunday morning ping!

Its funny how liberals react with such visceral distate to conservatism. You'd think they were being subjected to pornography.

Actually, they react favorably to pornography, pedophilia, and other atrocities; it's decency they can't stand...

I wonder how many public libraries will order this book? My guess is NONE, unless they receive multiple requests for it and are therefore forced to order it.

The libraries of America are infested with liberals, so don't expect very many of them to order the book, regardless of the number of requests received. Instead, conservatives need to donate the book and make sure it gets on the shelves, instead of being shelved in the back or in a circular file.

I bought The American Boy's Handybook for a friend's son. You should have seen the look on his mother when they happened on the "Practical Taxidermy For Boys" chapter. A must have book!

Thank you for this wonderful ping! What a wonderful story to read before heading off to church this morning! I can't stop laughing.

Children aren't necessarily sophisticated enough to understand these kinds of policies, and "liberals under the bed" sounds like "monsters under the bed," Mr. Rampton said. "Kids have enough real things that their parents need to teach them to stay away from."

Actually...liberals are much worse than monsters. They aren't under the bed...they are in your face. My kids were taught early on how to "spot" a liberal. ;o)

I think I need to buy a dozen of these books to put in the home school library.

I think we could write a series of books exposing liberals...OK...there are several writers on my ping list...let's see what you can do.

This is exactly why the liberals are squealing so loud over this book, IMO.

Except that they want porno in the libraries and "Help! Mom" to be banned from libraries.

Yep. Perversion is OK for the children. Traditional values make them narrow-minded and intolerant.

LOL! What an over reaction!

No kidding, I'm sure she would be okay with a book called "100 ways to put a condom on a cucumber."

And a good morning to you.

Yup, Yup, Yup. Sure is fun to listen to Liberals moan when their real source of strength, the education process (scruels + books) suddenly isn't "true Blue" (as in Blue state) any longer.

I particularly like watching their moans when a book comes out which is able to reach children. When a Liberal teaches socialism, sexual perversion, enviro-socialism, ad nauseam in a book for children we are supposed to say nothing.

Welcome to the real world, Liberals. Now even the children are able to find out about you, your agendas, and your essential wrongness. And they like reading about it, too. Pay back is a b*tch, isn't it?

GladesGuru's gotta get back into the Swamp of Socialism, literally, so I'll have to check this thread later today.

Yep - pretty lonely sometimes, but there are a few of us out here! My greatest amusement comes when the the central library, which supplies all of us with the current NYT best-sellers, has to spend the collection budget on books by Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, et al...LOL!

Oh yes.

We must protect young children from bad influences, unless it is something like "Girls Inc.", which is aimed at this age of girls (pic from their website):

Here are excerpts from their mission profile which is found on their web page:

"What is Girls Inc.’s view on sexuality? Girls Incorporated encourages all girls to develop positive sexual identities and to..........

*************function comfortably as responsible sexual beings. We recognize that the family is the primary source of information about sex, and we help girls and young women communicate with their families about sexuality. To make responsible decisions about sexuality, pregnancy and parenthood, girls need and have a right to sensitive, truthful sexuality education; convenient access to safe, effective methods of contraception and protection from disease; and referral to comprehensive information, counseling, clinical and other services that support their responsible decisions.*************

*************We recognize that any sizable group of girls includes those who face issues related to their sexual orientation or that of a family member and who face discrimination based on this sexual orientation. Girls have a right to positive, supportive environments and linkages to community resources for dealing with issues of sexual orientation.**************

What is Girls Inc.’s view on reproductive freedom? Girls Incorporated affirms that girls and young women should make responsible decisions about sexuality, pregnancy and parenthood. We recognize the right of all women to choose whether, when, and under what circumstances to bear children. Reproductive freedom and responsibility are essential to other rights and opportunities, including pursuit of education, employment, financial security and a stable and fulfilling family life. Restrictions of reproductive choice are especially burdensome for young women and poor women. Girls Incorporated supports a woman's freedom of choice, a constitutional right established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe vs. Wade."

Whether you agree or disagree with the politics of Girls Inc., it is probably fair to say there are many parents who don't read the fine print of this organization that may be "indoctrinating" their 7 year old girls.

We have a gentleman in my state of Massachusetts who is embroiled in a debate with the Lexington public schools because they exposed his kindergardener to pro-homosexual literature. He does not disagree with them teaching his child tolerance, but he feels that when and how his kindergardener is exposed to sexual issues like homosexuality should be the right and responisibility of him and his wife, not some school teachers.

Folks, I am no prude, but is it just me? Do so many people just not see any issue with the above statement being aimed at kids of the age in that picture from their website? Does anyone else think it is creepy that this sexualization process starts in kindergarden?

This is the type of indoctrination that Liberals have no problem exposing children to.

Glad your library feels compelled to order conservative books on NYT list.
Mine doesn't. And if the book is requested by a patron, they are extremely slow to order it and process or catalog it when they receive it.

Keep up the good work!
