Not only that, which isn't suprising, the RNC is running attack ads against Chafee's Republican opponent. The ad, if you haven't seen it, is over at NRSC.org and it demonizes oil, oil drilling, and stockbrokers.

Are you serious? If so, my theory is correct; some liberal thinkers are having influence in the WH. I suspect Andrew Card. What's up?

Here is the script of the "Slick" commercial (view it at NRSC.org)

Script:

ANNCR: “Have you seen this guy Steve Laffey?”

AD: “I’m Steve Laffey…”

ANNCR: “In his TV ads, he complains about oil companies… But he’s the same Steve Laffey who ran a company selling oil industry stocks on Wall Street. Profiting from offshore drilling. The oil companies made a fortune. Steve Laffey made a fortune. Now Laffey says he will . . .”

AD: “. . . stand up to the special interests.”

ANNCR: “Slick. Steve Laffey. Laughing all the way to the bank. The National Republican Senatorial Committee is responsible for the content of this ad.”

That's fairly well obvious. Just didn't come to a head until a couple weeks ago.
