Love Boaters Should be Benched..(Reaction to the Vikings recent boating incident)
Yahoo! Sports ^ | 10/13/05 | GeorgiaDawg32

Any Viking involved in what supposedly happened on that boat, and any Viking who wasn't involved but didn't try to stop what was happening, should be booted from the active roster.

Still pay them, if that's what is needed to satisfy union requirements. But under no circumstances allow them on the field to represent the Minnesota Vikings.

what they do in the PRIVACY of their own homes is their matter..taking it public is far different..it's the "I'm an athlete and you can't touch me" attitude..IMHO, burn them..

I'm going to guess that nothing will happen until next week.

If the Vikings win the team is going to hope that the fans forgive them and this goes away.

If they lose I'll expect Tice will be gone and a few players will be spending some time on the bench.

I feel really bad for Zigy. He buys a team all of a month or so ago because he loves football and he gets this. I'd ask Red for my money back!

I missed that! WOW!!

I guess we can probably expect more of the same out of this batch of players too.

actually If I were Zigy.... I would use this as a chance to clean house...

I agree that if they win they are going to hope for forgiveness..

I think that Tice is on a very short leash as is his time may be limited no matter what the team record is.

Amen on the burn them.

I'm so tired of the double standard. And if I hear one more idiot call the radio to claim it was a bunch of rich white racist suburban kids complaining I'm going to lose it.

Yeah, these "kids" working for $6.50 an hour plus tips are just rolling in the dough.

They are all really disappointed. They were so excited to work a cruise with the Vikings. This was the best of the best of their crew. Then this happens. Talk about having your eyes opened.

Then the losers walk out with the worker's tip money to top off the night. How pathetic is that?

You and me both. Zigy would be justified that's for sure.

It's not like this group of geniuses is actually doing anything positive for the team.

..on or off the field...

Well, then it's well hidden. I know there are cases of rape and spousal abuse - all kinds of things - and I'm sure this sort of thing happens in private situations all the time (Dallas Cowboys, anyone?)...but this is different.

When I heard this I could not help but remember how Ohio State's coaching legend Woody Hayes banned Playboy magazine from the locker room. According to players on the team he said, "you can't play football with an erection." Yeah, he really said that. LOL!

we'll see on sunday..if all play, it's, again, the "I hope they forget about it as long as we win" attitude..IMHO, the best thing the owner can do is suspend the players and issue a statement to the effect "We know we're going to lose, but in the best interest of community decency, we're taking this action. We hope Vikings fans will come out and support our (replacement) players after this incident"..talk about a bold statement..

I for one won't be watching the Vikes. They disgust me.

Plus, there's NASCAR!

but this is different

This will only be different if the perpetrators are held accountable for their outrageous behavior.

From what I can tell from most people Zigy would be seen as a hero if he did this.

I'm crossing my fingers here. There just has to be somebody left in the NFL in Minnesota that has some authority AND some common decency.

I agree, bench all involved. And I'm a long term Viking fan. It's unfortunate for the rest of the team not involved, but the 'love boaters' should have thought of that, too. (Not to mention the sort of 'Kobe' that the married players involved pulled on their wives...)

In other words, IF GUILTY, highly paid athletes get away with what us great unwashed would already be in jail for, as long as they get on the field and win..

Huh! Like they'll actually win! They're 1-4 so far.

"Coach Mike Tice said he was operating under the assumption that all his current players would be available to him for Sunday's game.

What audacity. I can't believe it. Tice has really slipped. I'll say it again, they're acting like they're in 'Any Given Sunday', all 'players' and gangsta, trading off their old 15-1 season, way out of reality. It shows in their loser season thus far.

Just as a comparison of how athletes can differ...
I worked at Black Wolf Run in Kohler Wisconsin in the early 90's.. it is one of the premier golf course/country clubs in Wisconsin it has for years attracted All types from the sports world.

While Michael Jordon Played for the Bulls he came and played the course for many years and would always bring his fellow teammates there.. along with several Chicago Bears, and other sports personalities.

There were several times that I would be working as a buss boy etc..and myself and others came in contact with these personalities.

We were told not to bother people like him, but he would go out of his way to make those that were working or interacted with his group feel welcomed around their table.. he would joke and ask about us...even shook my hand and congratulated me when he found out I had enlisted in the Navy...

The only time we had any incident remotely like this was when one of the members of his group started hitting on a waitress... he was immediately asked to leave by the rest of the group. it just goes to show that there are all different types in pro sports. granted that I only had limited experience and cannot say that he was that way all the time, but he seemed very genuine to me at that time. It is a shame as I believe you said on another thread that some many other athletes have decided to go the thug route in life.

I meant "different", because someone challenged my assertion that this is one of the ugliest things that has ever happened in pro sports. And I stand by that. (I worked briefly - a few years - in sports news media.)

Does anybody else find it ironic that a Viking would be having trouble with a boating incident?

My ancestors lived on the boats and crossed the North Sea (and other oceans) and plundered the Englishmen or who-else they encountered. Don't you think they had a little sex fun in between also???

That is a nice story. I have to agree. I've heard so many nice stories about players and yes, even NFL players.

We hear so many nice things here about the Twins and all the good things they do.

Fortunately all professional athletes aren't brain dead.

What a waste of talent and opportunity though. These idiots have everything in the world going for them and they can't manage to make it through a single season without messing it up.

The stupidity is astounding.
