Rush is not playing it down the middle, he is clearly on the side of the Get Miers out group. He just knows that if he is strident and really over the top like a lot of the anti-Miers group he will lose half his listeners in a heartbeat. He really messed up yesterday dissing Laura Bush, and he will never be able to take back all that crap he threw at her. Rush is trying to backpeddle here a bit and is spinning that the devisevness will go away. The kind of vitriol that I have seen lately just on Freerepublic will not go away. 20 Years of hate, anger and frustration with the GOP is being dumped in GWB's lap , and Pat Buchanan is stirring up his Army to destroy the GOP unity that we had.
Your correct. He gets 15 more minutes of my time, then he gets flipped.
Rush is doing awesome today, he knows this is a sweeps rating period and has to come with his very best on the program.
Yes, so very adult of some people around here to claim that if Rush doesn't agree with them then is strident and over the top and they will never listening to him again. If you guys are the adults in charge I'll take the children.
It seems like every time I turn on Rush in the past week and a half, he is railing on about the Miers nomination. I agree, he is definitely not playing this down the middle.
I just can't understand what is so unreasonable about waiting for this woman to make her case before I get all bent out of shape over this.
What you don't understand Samantha is that what Laura Bush and the White House did to smear Conservatives who disagree with the Miers nomination (by calling them "sexists" and "elitists") was wrong. It did a lot more damage than the Conservatives who shot back saying that attack was grossly unfair and uncalled for.
If you refuse to see that, then the damage done will not heal.
She took the avenue out that would least offend, according to my reading of the transcript.
I am sad to say I agree with your assessment. We must be honest if we ever hope to fix what ails us. I am angry at Rush for suffering from Miers Derangement Syndrome, instead of serving as the voice of reason. He followed the leads of people who ARE elitist (people who have enjoyed popularity because of OUR support), snobs who spent the last week trying to excuse and justify their responses, people who have the luxury of blogging themselves into frenzies all day instead of working at real jobs like the other 99.5 percent of us.
Rush IS trying to spin this away, and his message of unity was needed last week when he should have been encouraging the snobs to put a sock in it. Now the damage is done, we've been threatened and embarrassed and shivved by the punditocracy who do NOT speak for "conservatives", can't admit when they're wrong, won't admit they blew it, and it just really stinks, because it's not going to exactly be sanitized by a few glib cliches now.
Sure, after all this can't you just see all the new voters rushing to register for the Republican Party? Rush believes too much of his own stuff nowadays.
