Personally, I feel the current situation is out of control.
I think a guest worker program, weeding out the terrorists, criminals, etc. and reducing the numbers by half is what I think I want.

Who said that? We are saying that if the illegal alien criminal invaders were deported, according to the laws, these drunk driving vehicular homicides they are committing would not happen.
Then, their home countries could deal with their driving habits, and a lot of innocent law-abiding Americans would still be alive.

It won't keep drivers like Lane from driving but it will place a penalty on them if they do. He will have his drivers license taken from him. Now just what penalty is that when millions of illegal aliens, who have never had a license, drive on our roads and highways?
Just what would it take for our legal system to put these people in work camps for a month. That would be a penalty that would mess with their world. One they wouldn't forget.

FYI, Mr. Lane died in the crash. No more need for a drivers license.
Part II. A guest worker program where the carrot is free movement to and from mexico and freedom from deportation would be incentive for the guest worker to get a license, buy insurance and behave like any other american to avoid losing guest worker priviledge.

And I will have a lot of company when I say that this whole thread about illegals driving poorly is an irrelevant fringe issue. The driving skills are easily fixable by requiring the illegals to upgrade their skills via a guest worker program.
The carnage from illegals is vastly disproportionate to their numbers.
Other countries, like Australia, manage to pick crops without illegals or "guest workers". If we mechanized operations, paid legal workers more, and/or stopped giving welfare to the able-bodied, we could too.
