Thanks for your responses. Most of the people I talk to - Bush supporters and conservatives - are doing the wait and see approach. However, most do feel somewhat demoralized in that this was "our chance."

I will go on record saying that I don't think Roe v. Wade should be overturned so I'm not concerned about that. What bothers me are decisions like Kelo (sp?) and CFR. I don't want another Sandra Day O'Connor who has moments of clarity (she wrote the dissent opinion on Kelo) but often bends to the political winds (CFR, the Michigan affirmative action case).

I am a stallwort Bush supporter but I don't like the profigate spending, No Child Left Behind, his signing the CFR, etc. I totally support him on the tax cuts and WOT...I can see why conservatives are alarmed because they have put up with the negatives rationalizing that it's the SCOTUS that makes the difference and we get an unknown...it's a pickle and I don't think it needed to be.

I'll hold judgement until the hearings. W has a way of handling these things and I just have to hold my fire and keep the faith.

I believe Kelo will be readdressed as soon as Chief Justice Roberts believes he has a majority of votes. I think he will be quietly discussing this with the Justices that voted for it during this term, and he has such a brilliant mind that I believe his reasoning has the power to shed light on the issue that will cause a rethink by the Court.

Good Post, I have no reason to doubt anybody George W. Bush nominates for the Supreme Court, he has nominated nothing but solid conservative judges, and he has nominated around 300 of them

No Child Left Behind is our only foot in the door to changing the power of the teachers' unions to brainwash the nation's children.

The testing accountability provision forces them to spend some of their precious socialist/secular/amoral propaganda time "teaching to the test."

And if any child benefits from that and has more ability to make their own way in life as a result, then they may become less dependent on government handouts and more able to see that socialism/secularism/amorality is not good for the country.

Unfortunately, to get it passed it was loaded down with a ton of Kennedy largess.

'.......keep the faith.......'

exactly. Remember how, after 9/11, we truly thanked God that W was elected President in 2000 cause we needed a strong President who we could trust to protect America.
Harriet Miers is an unknown to me and I will listen closely during the Senate hearings, but, George Bush knows Harriet Miers. And, I still trust God's judgment in allowing George Bush to be elected and I trust George Bush to do what is right for America. We would have been sure of a solid conservative if Janice Rogers Brown was the nominee.....but, the President has reasons for selecting Miers and I trust him....cause I think he loves our great country just as I do. IMHO, he loves America above his self interests and he tries to do what is best for our country. I, too, will keep the faith.
