The SCOTUS nomination should be a Constitutional decision, not a political move.

The decision is made by political people.

Of course Supreme Court justice nominations are going to be political.

Should Bush appoint Lawrence Tribe? He teaches constitutional law at Harvard, after all.

The decison will be made BY THE PEOPLE. Just like it says in the Constitution. Politicans work for US remember?
