I've been told that these 'religious' folks are really plaintiff's attorneys hoping someone will do something so that they can generate a lawsuit.

I'd swear that crowd was on the DNC payroll...Fred Phelps supported Al Gore in some campaign several years ago. A few months ago, FReepers posted photos of Al Gore and wife with the Phelps gang.

Fred Phelps was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Meridian, Mississippi. Graduated Meridian High at 16 with highest academic honors, American Legion Citizenship Award, track letter, Bausch-Lomb Science Award, Eagle Scout, Principal Appointment to West Point Military Academy. The summer following graduation, he had a profound religious experience, gave up West Point, enrolled instead for Bible/ministerial training at Bob Jones College, Cleveland, Tennessee (later moving with them as they transitioned to Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina). Ordained by the Southern Baptists Sept. 8, 1947. Met his wife, Margie M. Phelps, in 1951 while preaching at the Arizona Bible Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Their marriage May 15, 1952 has been blessed of God with 13 children, 52 grandchildren (to date) and one great-grandchild (to date). Has served as Pastor of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, since Nov. 1955. WBC has conducted more than 22,000 picketing demonstrations across America and some foreign countries during the past 12 years -- aimed at showing Americans their transgression (Isa. 58:1) and causing America to know her abominations. Ezek. 16:2.

Harry - I know you're busy, but today you posted some info about Phelps linking him Gore and the Dem. party. I tried to find it, but can't - if you don't mind posting that info here, it would be a good place for it!
Thanks, and you've done a hero's job on that "tolerance" thread. Whatsisname is off the deep end.

It wouldn't have happened to have been the Westbro Baptist Church by any chance, would it?
What you describe sounds like the crap those people do. Their big claim to fame was cheering the 9/11 attacks.
In short summary, they're a bunch of nuts. Phelps has worked closely with Democrats both past and present, expressed interest in aiding Howard Dean with evangelical outreach. I kid you not. If you search around on here, you'll find articles about it.

I'd swear that crowd was on the DNC payroll if I didn't know better. They seem intent on giving a bad name to every religious conservative in this country. Phelps and crew are Homosexual activists, think about it, his antics only demonize Christians and portray homosexuals as victims.
The Fred "God Hates Fags" Phelps' gang rose to fame under the tenure of Janet Reno, in the clinton era. She was rabid in her treatment of "radical Christians" as evident in the Waco fiasco with the Branch Davidians.
Last year a Christian group (Repent America)was arrested and charged with felony counts for protesting a gay event in Philadelphia, Pa. The police were advised by homosexual DOJ lawyers. The Christians were facing 47 years each in the cooler, the charges were thrown out of court.
Clinton and Janet Reno loaded the DOJ with homosexual activist.Run a Google search on DOJ pride.
Doesn't seem funny that Phelps and his bunch have never been arrested like the Christians in Philadelphia have? Despite the fact that Phelps crashes all the gay parties on a national level.
Did you know that Phelps supported Al Gore and endorsed his bid for Prez?
Here's a Photo of them together..
