"Only" 27.7% oppose?

More than a quarter, going on a third.

That third is incensed, and disappointed, and defeated.

There's no doubt, really, that Miers will win confirmation if her candidacy sticks and goes all the way to a vote.
Then that 2/3rds or 3/4ths who supported her will be holding their breath and praying to God Almighty that she turns out to be the conservative that the "Trust me" sales job insists she is.

But that one-quarter to one-third who are incensed, disappointed and defeated will, many of them, have already headed out the door. Where will the GOP get the bodies to replace them?

Don't leave out the 33.4% that need more information. IMO that vote should be read "Not Yet" more negative than positive. In an issue as polarizing as this a "need more data" vote should not be read as even splitting evenly between positive an negative but should be more prudently read as a negative willing to listen to additional data. That data not forthcoming would leave the voter unsatisfied. That would make my reading of the data 60% not yet willing to support the nomination.. a pretty damning number.
