No. Spong's religion, whatever that might be, has only been used to earn him notoreity, to provide him what is probably a pretty comfortable living, and to pave the path to Hell for anyone foolish enough to follow him.

This guy has chosen to rewrite Christianity to try to find some justification for his own hedonism. The church should have tossed him out of the backdoor and told him to clean up the mess he made before he left.
