Not only does no one need the likes of Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson, they are actually criminals - shadedown artists at the very least. They enrich themselves with lies, and want to keep black people miserable and angry so as to remain powerful. They are disgusting.

Self esteem should be based on knowing that one has done one's duty and taken responsiblity the best one can. Self esteem based on illusion is called arrogance, and when taken to the extreme, narcissicsm of the worst kind. Many psychopathic criminals have very high self esteem. Along with a dutiful, responsible character, one should also cultivate determination to do what is right, and concern for the well-being other others.

Just for fun, here's a list of Benjamin Franklin's rules of conduct he set out for himself:

8. Justice - Wrong none by doing injuries, or omitting the benefits that are your duty.
9. Moderation - Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.
10. Cleanliness - Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, clothes, or habitation.
11. Tranquility - Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents, common or unavoidable.
12. Chastity - Rarely use venery but for health or offspring, never to dullness, or weakness, or the injury of your own or another's peace or reputation.
13. Humility - Imitate Jesus and Socrates.

I like number 4 especially.

Now, if a person strives to follow these rules, he/she will have cause to experience some worth while self esteem.
