I think Bush might drop her.

Look how he dropped Trent Lott. Also, check his feeble record of supporting his appeals court nominees. Miguel Estrada and Charles Pickering certainly didn't get the support they deserved. And, truthfully the only reason Brown, Owen and Pryor are on the Circuit Courts now is b/c of the Gang of 14 fiasco.

I believe Bush's principle reason for the Miers pick was to avoid a fight. He expected a fight from the Dims, but he's getting a fight from the right. And, the fight from the right could be far more damaging to him personally than the fight from the left.

He may love old Harriet, but chances are his loyalty has a limit.

I doubt the fight from the right will hold and I'm ambivalent about that prospect

Pundits get mad and donors and field troopers like us get riled, it doesn't probably matter much to Bush. He's not running again.

What would get his attention is leading Pubbie senators jumping ship. Frist who I'm sure already knew his choice came out praising her ...he is Bush's man

anyhow...it's just damned sour to have to drink down this crap after so many years and so many elections and campaigns ....damn is all I can say.

I knew when yanked that dadgum CSA vetrans memorial plaque when he first became Governor in Austin that he marched to a different culture war drummer than I but hey...there is no alternative and he was great after 9-11 so I felt like I owed him

not anymore

but....this same mindset...moderates....will nominate Rudi or Condi or McCainiac in 08.
