I know Pres. Bush yearns for consensus and has numerous times worked with democrats (Worked very well in Texas) but you can only take so much.
I think the days of playing poker and "back dooring" the dems are coming to an end in this administration. Democrats are starting to draw serious blood with this "indictment" on Delay and will have to be met with swift retribution. Politics is one thing, bringing up bogus charges in trying to alter leadership is another.
Also I believe the main reason Pres. Bush picked Ms. Miers was not because she was on the "approved" list (Easier to confirm) but had an intimate knowledge in which he knows how her philosophical views are in accordance to the Constitution.

Bush is not like that. Period. It would be out of character for him to attack the way we want him to.
