As a Libertarian, I would expect you to want LESS government interference, not more!

They, effectively, are telling the soldiers to comply with the "Army Field Manual" which was based on a WWII type of War.

They are NOT qualified to decide the "rules". They are sitting in Washington, after sending soldiers to give their lives for the WOT. Did they ask any actual soldiers who may not be clear on the rules what they thought? NO. This is insulting to the Military and our soldiers.

Every law that Congress passes is bent out of shape by the courts and the ACLU. All it will take is a terrorist to claim something offended them and our soldiers will be left holding the bag ...... I'm serious. Congress does not realize the effect of their "feel good" laws. Just think, the man who authored Campaign Finance Reform is telling our soldiers how they can interrogate prisoners while risking their lives. THINK ABOUT IT. It's shameful. If they really wanted to do this, they could have had the troops come up with a recommendation for "rules" and gone from there.

"Did they ask any actual soldiers who may not be clear on the rules what they thought? NO. This is insulting to the Military and our soldiers."

"McCain said military officers have implored Congress for guidelines................McCain cited a letter he received from Army Capt. Ian Fishback, who has fought in Afghanistan and Iraq. "Over 17 months, he struggled to get answers from his chain of command to a basic question: What standards apply to the treatment of enemy detainees?" McCain said. "But he found no answers. . . . The Congress has a responsibility to answer this call.""

" They, effectively, are telling the soldiers to comply with the "Army Field Manual" which was based on a WWII type of War. "

Ridiculous. The manual is a recent creation, with recent updates.

" They are NOT qualified to decide the "rules". "

Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution says that Congresss is the only one qualified to do this and the sole entity with the power to do so.
