While J. Brown has served on the bench with distinction, she has served at the state level dealing with state issues until her recent elevation to the federal bench. Miers has been dealing with federal issue for much of Bush's term.

If Ann was promoting Edith Jones as more qualified, I would have to agree, but using Brown as her example, fatally flaws her argument.

Brown was her first choice among well qualified candidates she like, Luttig, McConnell, Aleto, Edith Jones, Priscilla Owens. Any of them would have been an excellent choice.

If Miers goes on the SCOTUS, she will have lots of good company, but it won't be Scalia and Thomas she will be eating lunch with....move over Ruthie, another closet fem-lib is coming to the bench.
