"A lot of conservatives simply don't trust him, and they have good reason not to."

I will be hoping this nomination is derailed, but I fear the DEms got their pick and the Repub Senators will not break with Bush. THis nomination was the Opportunity to reverse years of Judical Tyranny, that is what hurts me most, This is worse than READ MY LIPS. because the impact on our country will go on for years,, those GOP boosters here are willing to ignore this? and yet claim they are conservative?? I will be hard pressed to vote for a national GOP candidate as I no longer trust Them. Will this uphold not just ROE but also KELO and our property rights (no rights as of kelo)

This is worse than READ MY LIPS.

Years from now, when they write about what happened to the Republican Party after they achieved such stunning upsets and established a majority; this event will be seen as the critical moment when conservatives finally washed their hands of the party that they put in power. When they finally understood that their efforts only provided an opportunity to be stabbed in the back.

All your Support-the-President-No-Matter-What people out there - mark my words, this will do more for 'Clinton 43' than anything else. Hillary should send a special note of thanks to Bush.

How fitting. George ("Read My Lips") Bush got us Clinton 41. George ("I Will Nominate Someone Like Scalia") Bush will give us Clinton 43.

Many of us are frustrated. You have the Democrats, who have no members that match our ideology AT ALL. Then you have the Republicans, a good percentage of whom are conservative, but most of the real conservatives have little power due to cronyism and corruption. This is where the "lesser of two evils" argument comes in. What are the alternatives? The Constitition Party? Please! First off I don't even agree with them on everything, and they get about 39 votes nationally every election. The Libertarians? AKA the Constituion Party on Pot...c'mon, they've been around since the '70s and never won a national election, or even come close. Plus I just can't handle their abortion stance or WOT stance. Or gay marriage.

The fact is we feel stuck. We can whine, and not vote for them, and either not vote at all, or vote for third parties with less of a chance of winning than Gary Coleman had in California. We can take up arms and use the 2nd amendment. Or-we can attempt to work from within, and support guys like Mike Pence, Tom Coburn, Ken Blackwell, and even Ron Paul, and get REPUBLICANS who are also CONSERVATIVES to the top of the heap. It can be done and it will be again.
