I just heard on the radio that AP is reporting that Harry Ried first suggested to Bush that he consider Miers. DO you believe this?

Reid is in NO position of strength. What CAN he say? Say he will fight the nomination? Threaten to filibuster?

The Dems have no position of strength here. They KNOW that they will lose if they filibuster. They have division in their own party between the Minority Leader and the Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee.

This is an attempt for Reid to save face and not seem obsructionist - JMHO...

I would think that the rats would like to make a token show of resistance to Miers much like they did to Roberts before overwhelmingly voting for her. I would expect a few squeals, nothing more.
