Zell Miller gave Clinton's keynote address at the 1992 Dem Convention. And Bush's keynote address at the 2004 Convention. The Dem Party used to accomodate southern conservatives. They are no longer so accomodating - and Miers left. IMO that is what happened here. So, by your standards, should we reject anything that Zell Miller says, just because he once supported Clinton as a Dem? No, but I'm not sure we should nominate him to the Supreme Court either. Not when other highly qualified, longtime conservatives are available.

I'm showing the historical context of such and how it has no bearing - like the other handful of factoids generating all the hand-wringing today.
