This is probably completely off-base and crazy, but what if Bush thinks another retirement is imminent(Ginsberg) before his term ends, and he is appeasing the Dems for now in order to make a clearer path for a future conservative pick??? It could happen.

I was going to post the same thought. We can hope, anyway.

In some ways, it makes sense. He gets the Dems comfortable in thinking they have won, Bush is weak, then WHAM! he busts out with a Luttig or Brown, and their heads are spinning so fast, they don't stop until the confirmation is done.

I like it. :)

Stephens is 85, and I believe that Ginsberg is quite ill.

I would be surprised if Bush does not get another nomination.
