Sheer unwashed speculation on my part, but maybe they like her because she isn't Brown, Luttig or Clement. And then there's the age issue - even if confirmed, she likely will not serve as long as JRB would likely have served.

I will try to retain an open mind on this pick for now but I must say I would have greatly preferred seeing liberal brains explode over the selection of one of the above, especially JRB. As the SAS say, 'who dares wins'.

Ditto. As observers, the spectacle would have been much more interesting to us if Luttig or some others were nominated. Right now we sound a bit like people who are disappointed in a pick on Survivor or American Idol.
