I know it's not a laughing matter but the dope on FNC asked the person who helped with the rescue if the Coast Guard was there helping.
After a moment of silence he said there are NO coast guard on the lake.
Sheesh.

After a moment of silence he said there are NO coast guard on the lake. As far as I know, CG is routinely involved -only- on waters that can facilitate interstate traffic/commerce.

After a moment of silence he said there are NO coast guard on the lake. Sheesh. I'll respond, despite the "sheesh" that has displayed how little you know about boating. The Coast Guard does not have a boat on every lake. The Coast Guard serves only on the coastal waters and in some large navigable lakes such as the Great Lakes. However, they will send choppers to search and rescue missions anywhere, if they are near enough to help.
And as for your life jacket remark, life jackets are not required to be worn, nor are they regularly worn on boats of this size.

If the lake borders two or more states, the US CG has jurisdiction.
