I believe the news blackout is to give LE time to sort through all the evidence before going public with their findings. Remember how nothing was coming out at first about the D.C. snipers? Eventually, they thought there was enough risk to the public to come out with some of their findings.
Face it, there are so many conflicting stories floating around, many of them probably rumors. At the risk of sounding naive, I think we have to trust that if there is anything the public needs to know for public safety, they will tell us. Right now it is just too early into this thing.
That said, I think the Dad's comments are downright weird. He is surprisingly talkative for someone grieving over his son, and he sounds like a shrink himself. It almost sounds as if he's rehearsed all these pat answers ahead of time. I'm wondering if this is not the first time his son attempted suicide.
My gut feel is no terrorism involved...at least not any organized, Al-Quaida related terrorism. The kid may have wanted to take out some people while killing himself, and as such, that is a form of terrorism. But the AQ signature is usually several similar incidents in rapid succession, and that has not happened.
That website-that-shall-remain-nameless/linkless has new info on roommates......
Right you are. Also, they don't want to create a panic at campuses across the country or a backlash against muslim students (and there are many). The facts will come out. I do believe it is exactly what it appears to be -- a jihad suicide, but not an organized one. Young males are being recruited at mosques and through the internet. Though not directly linked to AQ, their mission is the same. IMO
