If I had to decide anything about the flu, maybe it would be that it is not the birds who will spread the flu, but instead it will be spread by a terrorist, as the Norovirus appears to be, hitting the 'luxury' groups of people.

UP to 80 Australian Muslims could immediately be placed under
effective house arrest under the Government's proposed anti-terror
laws.
The laws mean they could each be required to wear tracking devices,
or prevented from working, or using the telephone or internet, or
communicating with certain people. For the first time, the laws will
cover the estimated 80 Australians who have received or provided
training with a listed terrorist organisation before 2002.
Previously, the Government has had no effective powers over these
people, almost all of whom are Muslims, because laws prohibiting
training with terrorist groups came into force only in July 2002 and
were not retrospective.
However, under the proposed new laws, such people can be subjected
to tough so-called control orders if authorities still believe they pose a
security risk.
The provisions, which until now have escaped public scrutiny, are
aimed at helping authorities monitor people who have trained with
terror groups and are still deemed to pose a potential risk.
However, they will anger critics of the laws, who will argue they can
be misused to "heavy" anyone purely on the basis that they have had
past links with groups that are now illegal.
The Australian Muslim Civil Rights Advocacy Network slammed the
proposed laws yesterday as "a backdoor way to limit the freedoms of
people who can't be found guilty of a crime".

Rioting erupts on Birmingham streets
One man killed, many hurt as racial tensions overflow

One man was killed and a police officer was injured in clashes in the
Lozells area of Birmingham last night. The riot, between Asian and
black youths, broke out after a public meeting was held about an
alleged sex attack on a teenage girl. Tensions have been high in the
area since the alleged attack took place several days ago. It is
claimed the girl - an illegal immigrant - had been kidnapped and
raped by three men.
At one point, a group of more than 100 hooded youths ran through the
streets, attacking cars and motorists with baseball bats. Several cars
were overturned and at least one was set alight. The mob was chased
by police carrying riot shields.
One bystander said: 'I'm caught between two rolling police roadblocks
and can see hundreds of police dressed in riot gear advancing towards
the crowds to push them back.' An ambulance was reportedly attacked
by youths wielding sticks.
India Murray, landlady of the Union Inn on Gerrard Street, said all the
windows of her pub had been smashed. 'The police are at the top of
the road in their riot wagons and helicopters are everywhere,' she
said. Mrs Murray added that tensions had been mounting in the area
with outbreaks of sporadic violence. 'It has been building up for the
past few days,' she said.
A police spokeswoman confirmed one officer had been injured and
that there had been a fatality, though the cause of the death was not
known. However, one man, who declined to be named, said the
person who died had been stabbed outside a Caribbean food shop. A
lot of other people had been hurt, he added.
The Lozells area has a strong African-Caribbean presence, the biggest
contingent of which comes from Jamaica. Asian gangs have also
sprung up in the area and there has been simmering tension between
the two racial groups. Often trouble has related to drugs - mainly
heroin - and gun crime.
Asian gangs used to operate in partnership with black gangs. But the
two sides have now evolved into opposing crime syndicates, and even
the black gangs are divided and violent towards each other.

Al-Zawahiri: We felt deep sadness and
sorrow at the news of the disaster that
befell the Muslim Pakistani people as a
result of the earthquake that hit Pakistan
and Afghanistan yesterday. We pray to
Allah that He will place our brothers killed
in the earthquake alongside the martyrs
and the righteous. Dear brothers, how I
wish my brothers and I that we could be
with you on this day. But America's
collaborators prevent us from supporting
our Muslim brothers in their time of
hardship.
The important thing is: I call today upon
Muslims in general, and upon the Islamic
charities in particular, to go to Pakistan and
assist their Pakistani brothers. They should
try to outdo one another in this. They
should bear in mind the troubles they will
encounter in so doing. We are all aware of
the extent of the raging American war
against the activities of the Islamic
charities. We all know that the Musharraf
government is a branch of the CIA. Despite
all this, I call upon all Muslims to hasten to
the aid of their brothers in Pakistan, any
way they can, and, in order to provide as
much aid as possible, they should bear in
mind the harm (that may come) from the
Americans and their collaborators.

I. Summary and
Introduction
"The threat is real," said Henry Crumpton, the
U.S. State Department's counterterrorism
coordinator. He was visiting Indonesia last week,
nearly three weeks after suicide bombers killed
20 people and wounded more than 100 on the
resort island of Bali. "But what really concerns
me is weapons of mass destruction," Crumpton
said, pointing to evidence U.S. officials said they
found in Afghanistan that al-Qaida was working
on anthrax weapons.
On June 1, 2005, President of Pakistan Gen. Pervez
Musharraf said of Al Qaeda told CNN: "These people
were involved in the ... production of anthrax,....." In a
court filing dated May 20, 2005, an attorney for the United
States Department of Justice wrote: "The investigation
into the anthrax attacks is one of the largest and most
complex investigations in law enforcement history. To
bring those responsible to justice, the investigation
remains intensely active." Four years earlier -- in the
Summer of 2001 -- the former top Al Qaeda expert for the
Federal Bureau of Investigation John O'Neill had warned
that Al Qaeda was going to use anthrax. He was head of
security for the World Trade Center.
The night before 9/11 O'Neill sat at his usual table at
Elaine's. O'Neill told his friend that the country was due
for something big. He said that he expected that there
would be another attack on the World Trade Center --
because Al Qaeda seeks to finish what they start. O'Neill
knew of "Operation Bojinka" and that one of Khalid
Mohammed's alternative scenarios was use of a
biochemical weapon in connection with the detention of
the blind sheikh and other WTC plotters. He had seen the
reports of surveillance of the January 2000 meeting in
Malaysia attended by Al Qaeda anthrax technician Yazid
Sufaat. But he wasn't in a position to do anything about it.
Holding his trademark cigar, he said "life doesn't get
much better than this." He died the next day in the plane
attack on the towers.
In early June 2003, a Central Intelligence Agency
("CIA") report publicly concluded that the reason for
Mohammed Atta's and Zacarias Moussaoui's inquiries into
cropdusters was for the contemplated use in dispersing
biological agents such as anthrax. An early September
2003 Newsweek article included a rumor by a Taliban
source that at a meeting in April 2003 Bin Laden was
planning an "unbelievable" biological attack, the plans for
which had suffered a setback upon the arrest of Khalid
Shaikh Mohammed ("KSM"). He had been captured the
previous month in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. In November
2003, a report by a UN Panel of experts concluded that Al
Qaeda is determined to use chemical and biological
weapons and is restrained only by technical difficulties.
In May 2004, Patrick Hughes, Lieutenant General
(Retired), Assistant Secretary for Information Analysis,
Homeland Security Department testified before the 9/11
Commission. He explained that interrogations and other
evidence revealed that Al Qaeda wanted to strike the US
with a nonconventional weapon, most notably anthrax.
The same week, the WTC head testified that while they
had not received any briefing on the use of planes, they
had taken steps to prepare for an attack using anthrax
based on intelligence that had been received.
In a statement issued June 16, 2004, the 9/11
Commission Staff concluded that "Al Qaeda had an
ambitious biological weapons program and was making
advances in its ability to produce anthrax prior to
September 11. According to Director of Central
Intelligence George Tenet, al Qaeda’s ability to conduct
an anthrax attack is one of the most immediate threats
the United States is likely to face." On August 9, 2004, it
was announced that in the Spring of 2001, a man named
El-Shukrijumah, also known as Jafar the Pilot, who was
part of a "second wave," had been casing New York City
helicopters. Photographs from a seized computer disc
included the controls and the locks on the door between
the passengers and pilot. In a bulletin, the FBI noted that
the surveillance might relate to a plot to disperse a
chemical or biological weapon.
On March 31, 2005, the Commission on the Intelligence
Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of
Mass Destruction, in its "Report to the President of the
United States," concluded "al-Qai'da's biological program
was further along, particularly with regard to Agent X
[anthrax], than pre-War intelligence indicated. The
program was extensive, well-organized , and operated for
two years before September 11, but intelligence insights
into the program were limited. The program involved
several sites around Afghanistan. Two of these sites
contained commercial equipment and were operated by
individuals with special training."
The CIA reportedly has been quietly building a case
that the anthrax mailings were an international plot. This
is old news. It's just no longer bureaucratically impolite to
openly contest the FBI's (former) theory about a lone,
American scientist. Many people have argued that a
US-based Al Qaeda operative is behind the earlier Fall
2001 anthrax mailings in the US, and that the mailings
served as a threat and warning. Princeton islamist scholar
Bernard Lewis has explained that while islamists may
disagree about whether killing innocents is sanctioned by
the laws of jihad, extremists like Zawahiri agree that
notice must be given before biochemical weapons are
used. "The Prophet's guidance," says Michael Scheuer, an
al-Qaeda analyst retired from the CIA who once headed
its Bin Laden unit, "was always, Before you attack
someone, warn them very clearly..." The anthrax mailings
followed the pattern of letters they sent in January 1997
to newspaper branches in Washington, D.C. and New York
City, as well as symbolic targets. The letter bombs were
sent in connection with the detention of the blind sheik
Abdel Rahman and those responsible for the earlier World
Trade Center bombing in 1993.
Handwritten notes and files on a laptop seized upon the
capture of KSM, Al Qaeda's #3, included a feasible
anthrax production plan using a spray dryer and
addressed the recruitment of necessary expertise. What
your morning paper did not tell you, however, was that
the CIA seized a similar disc from Ayman Zawahiri's
right-hand, Ahmed Salama Mabruk, 5 years earlier. The
computer disk was confiscated from him during his arrest
by the CIA in Azerbaijan and handed over to the Egyptian
authorities. Mabruk, at the time, was the head of Jihad's
military operations. There is a risk that observers
underestimate the time that Al Qaeda has had to make
progress in such recruitment and research and
development.

agency.
"I call on all Muslims in general and I call on
all Islamic humanitarian associations in
particular to move to Pakistan to provide
help to their Pakistani brothers, and that
they do it quickly," he said.
Al Zawahri, an Egyptian eye surgeon and
believed to be one of the main founders of
the Egyptian Islamic Jihad group, is usually
referred to as Osama Bin Laden's right-hand
man.
Saudis raise funds
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia announced it’s
launching a major drive to gather millions of
dollars in donations for Pakistan quake
victims.
Saudis flocked Faisal bin Fahd sports stadium
in Riyadh, donating money, jewelry and
other valuables.
Among the major donations were 2.6 million
dollars by King Abdullah, 1.8 million dollars
by Saudi oil giant Aramco and 800,000
dollars by Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin
Abdul Aziz, who led the organisation for the
drive, according to state television.
Relief helicopter crashes
A civilian helicopter coming from Turkey,
carrying aid to S. Asia quake victims
exploded on its way to Pakistan then crashed
in central Azerbaijan, killing all five aboard,
according to ABC news.
The Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf
criticised the world leaders for the
"inadequate" reconstruction aid after a
massive quake struck South Asian nearly two
weeks ago. Officials expect the death toll to
rise above 50, 000.
But a day after the UN appealed to other
countries to collect money for relief efforts
so as to prevent a second wave of deaths,
Turkey was the first to react; with the
biggest donation so far, according to AFP.
Trucks full of supplies continue to stream
into Muzaffarabad, one of the worse-hit
areas, correspondent said.
Hospitals have become croweded with the
injured, and doctors say that some cases
started improving. But international agencies
warned that thousands of Pakistanis in
remote areas might die if tents and supplies
didn’t reach them soon.
India has offered to set up three relief
centers for victims from Pakistani Kashmir.
Cuba sends relief doctors
A large medical team from Cuba, including
100 doctors, nurses and paramedics arrived
in Pakistan to bring emergency relief to the
quake survivors, reported Reuters.
President Fidel Castro personally ordered
sending the medial team to save the
Pakistani victims, Cuba’s First Deputy
Minister Rodrigo Parrilla said.
Also Japan donated $1 million to UNHCR’s
relief efforts in Pakistan, NNI reported.
And the United States pledged 19 more
helicopters following a UN plea to rescue the
stranded victims in Pakistani Kashmir.
