I am wondering how easy it would be to get one of these?
What would happen if hundreds were set off at once? Are these on the same frequency as the other planes in the sky?

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about emergency transmitters to give you an educated answer.
What I do know is the National Guard and local law enforcement were tied up for 16 hours searching for the transmitter.
Can you imagine if hundreds were set off?!? Yikes.
