It comes in handy that I worked in St. Pete at a medium sized law firm that was in the loop. Jack Helinger's record may have been expunged if he can now be a judge. Who's going to raise this issue?
JACK HELINGER was in a lot of trouble. (I think he's buds with State Atty Bernie McCabe going way back.)
BACKGROUND: Lots of Pinellas attorneys used to go to happy hour at Harvey's ion 4th St. in St. Pete. If you wanted to hear something, you'd hear it at Harvey's if you didn't hear it at the office first. (amazing we got any work done there was so much gossip!).
MARK SHAMES, a retired judge who first gave HINO permission to kill Terri (cheated on his wife before he became a Family Law judge.)
We all benefit when people with disabilities are valued in our churches.
Imagine walking down the street and hearing a child say to his mother: "Mom, why does he walk that way?" Or, "Why is she in that wheelchair?" Or, "Why does he have that cane?" People with disabilities don't have to imagine such questions. They hear them regularlyat least those who can hear.
But it's not the queries of curious youngsters that bother those facing physical or mental challenges. It's the indifference, discrimination, or outright hostility that often comes from adults.
