Uh, trust me, I've lived in both Chicago and Cleveland - there are way more Indians fans than White Sox fans across the country (although the Indians' attendance sucked this year). So, I don't buy that TV ratings would be higher with the White Sox on as opposed to the Indians.
Funny on the Chicago news last night - the stories about the White Sox clinching - they went to Jimbos bar down the street from Comiskey to get reaction - like 20 people in there - that was it. And half the people interviewed were like "Yeah, Cubs suck."

I was listening to Radio Canada about a year ago. They had a piece on an Ohio "period" baseball league.
One of the spectators was a pitcher after WWII for a brief period (took a factory job that paid more). For Cleveland, iirc.
His story was he's throwing strikes at Ted Williams, and the umpire is calling balls. He complains to the ump, and
the ump says "Look around. See all these people in the stands? They didn't come here to watch you pitch,
they came here to see Williams hit."
And so it goes.

"They didn't come here to watch you pitch, they came here to see Williams hit."
Sounds like the answer that was given in the '95 series when the Indians complained about the extra 6 inches that was added for the Braves pitchers. The answer was that "The Braves pitchers have earned the respect of the umpires and deserve to get the close calls."

My hope: Red Sox win 3 and the AL East, Indians win 3 and get the wild card and the Yankees get an early vacation.I'm with you!
GO SOX!

I'm content as long as the Red Sox choke; I don't care what happens after that.

That's cold....
and sad too because he had a good career, he played hard and what he subjected his body to was amazing.
