OLN, NBC TO ENHANCE NHL COVERAGE by Joe Sager pittsburghpenguins.com 09/29/2005
Training Camp Home | Training Camp Roster
The NHL is back and better than ever. So is its national television coverage.
It all starts Saturday at 2 p.m. when NBC presents its NHL Fresh Ice: 2005-06 Season Preview and continues throughout the regular season and playoffs on OLN and NBC.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and phenom Sidney Crosby will lead things off for NBCs Fresh Ice show. The NBC crew of Mike Doc Emrick, John Davidson and Pierre Maguire visited Penguins training camp on Sept. 22 when the Penguins were in Wilkes-Barre. Davidsons chat with Mario Lemieux and Crosby will highlight Saturdays telecast, which features pieces on Flyers goaltender Robert Esche experimenting with NBCs goalie cam which will debut in January, Wayne Gretzky coaching in Phoenix, the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning and a visit to Detroit with Brendan Shanahan.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have so many veterans this team isnt just looking to Sidney Crosby to turn them around and make them a great team. I hope that Sidney improves. Let nature take its course as he becomes a star or a superstar. This kid is something special, Davidson said. He is a very, very special athlete and person. For some of us who have been around the league a long time, when someone like this comes around, we all count our blessings and hope he makes it because he is something special.

It's an exciting time to be a Penguins fan!
It will be interesting to see how the rule changes affect the game. I'm a little skeptical when they start tinkering with the game. But, "good hockey" is good hockey. The clutch-and-grab stuff can get a little boring. Hopefully, the rule changes will open the game up some.
Thanks for the ping! Just a few more days......
You were wrong. It was merely a flesh wound.
Oh! The good old hockey game, Is the best game you can name;
And the best game you can name, Is the good old Hockey game!
This is the best time of the year, football in full swing, baseball playoffs, now hockey is back.
The boys went to a preseason game, Caps vs. Pens.
I had tickets, but went to Seattle to see my nephew come home from Iraq.
They told me there weren't the big names playing, just the youngsters trying to get a spot on the roster.
Which translated into big time smash-mouth hockey. They loved it!
YEA!!!!!!
HOCKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got a beer eh?
I'm looking forward to a big drink from the CUP!!!

YES!!!!!!!!!!
I was upset when the NHL went on strike and I remained bitter throughout the past year. But now that the season is upon us.......I am looking forwar to the drop of the puck!
mc's been in the sauce again. did u forget forsburg?
My Hershey Bears were the AHL farm team of the AV's last year, so I not only know all about them, I've met several of them. They are looking good this year (Aebischer is weak) and it should make for some great end to end hockey if the League enforces the rule changes throughout the entire year.
DROP THE PUCK!!!
Same here. The Penguins certainly made some good moves. Craig Patrick was always a smart deal maker.
I'm afraid you'll have to wait your turn. This is the Predators' year! (As long as they call the game as the new rules are written - even into the playoffs)
Kariya for president!
My Hershey Bears were the AHL farm team of the AV's last year, so I not only know all about them, WELL I GUESS YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT THE PH PHANTOMS THEN! _ NOW SOME ARE WITH THE BIG TEAM. Hope the nhl centerice package lets me get
FLYERS home games here in vt!
And of course, I hate them!!!;^)
Caps and Pens tonight. The local Comcast is showing it. I hope it is in Hi-Def. Crosby and Ovechkin. I can't wait.
