The news that more than 50 percent of American teens have had oral sex raised hardly an eyebrow when it was first reported by the National Center for Health Statistics as part of most comprehensive survey of teen sexual behavior ever conducted, and this by the federal government. Nor were people surprised at the huge change in young girls who were giving as much oral sex as they were receiving, thereby confirming the transformation in young women from sexual prey to sexual predators.
Less so was there any shock value in the newly released fact that 11 percent of young women reported having at least one homosexual experience. By now, Americans have become completely inured to the idea of teens having more sex than their parents. Time was when Dad would sit down and give his son the talk about the birds and the bees. Now it's junior who sits Dad down and teaches him all the latest positions.
But there was another statistic that should have gotten parents' attention but which was similarly ignored, namely, that there seems to be a direct link between teen sexuality and teen depression. A study by the Heritage Foundation, in-turn based on the government-funded National Longitudinal Survey of Adolescent Health, found that about 25 percent of sexually active girls say they are depressed all, most or a lot of the time, while only 8 percent of girls who are not sexually active feel the same.

It's also peer pressure. Good upbringing can help a young
person not give in to peer pressure.
...but the sins of the fathers visit the 3rd and fourth
generations...
You included it in a loving relationship. These girls think the copulation will bring them love, and it doesn't. Rejection after giving sex is more depressing than loneliness.
Good luck to you!
What's this site? Chopped liver?
I met my husband on Free Republic :~D
And I'm NOT turning a blind eye to FR. I find that I'm more of a news junkie than a poster. It's just that the occasional 2A, space or sex articles bring out the fiery political side of me. Go figure.
You beat me to it....
Lots of sex (with anyone) is important for a teen boy's growth and development!
At least that's what I read here all the time. ;)
That's agreed. The added commitment of marriage should add depth to an already strong relationship. I tend to see a lot of people mistake the ability to live together as an indication that their relationship is destined for marriage.
Marriage is one of the most sacred promises a person can make because it is one of the deepest commitments a person can make. Cohabitation is not anywhere near the same as marriage, and many people find that out the hard way. Cohabitants look at one another and at the relationship as something that can be abandoned, and in most cases marriage doesn't seem to alter this mind set.
Moral Absolutes/Homosexual Agenda Two-fer.
Adding the H.A. since the article mentions a high number of teenage girls "trying" homosexual sex.
Human beings may have a desire for promiscuous sex - some more, some less - but here is evidence that every desire need not be followed. In fact, the difference between an animal and a human is that human beings are meant to control desires, to sift through them, to use - gasp! - discrimination and judgement, to discern which desires are beneficial, moral, and just, and should be followed, and which are damaging, harmful, and immoral and should be rejected.
Just because the mind comes up with "I want this! I must have that!" doesn't mean we have to slavishly follow such impulses. And, oddly enough, the more we consume media/entertainment that promotes all manner of attractive enjoyments, the more the mind will pop up with similar desires... fancy that. It's why advertising works, and it's why humans get educated. What you put in affects what's inside.
Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist (either one).
The happy person is someone who is peaceful and whose personal desires are simple, harm no one, and are in line, at the very least, with "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Final note: Often teenagers (understatement) gauge their actions, dress, speech etc on what other teenagers do, as they want badly to "fit in" and be liked. Living for the good opinion of others is the royal road to hell. Teach your kids that the opinion of other sheep matters not one iota. The opinion of God is all that matters. That way you keep your self-respect and have respect for others.
When a friend was looking for a new love after his divorce, I told him he had to make himself available. He had to get out of the house and stay away from those lonely nights in front of the monitor or TV.
Yahoo.com does ask what your political affiliation is in your profile. You can also look at their's.
Ahhh, I guess it helps to read the whole article.... ; )
Careful, TC. When I made a similar observation on a Natalee Holloway thread, I was excoriated by some other FReepers and the Mod deleted my comment!
Maybe it was just the context.
I don't always follow an except back to the link, either. Nor is it made clear how the cause/effect sequence is determined; one would have to look at the research report to see what data led to that conclusion.
There are very good reasons why our Creator gave us commandments....
When the manufacturer tells you what his working-design parameters are don't be surprised when violated your life doesn't seem to work out very well...
God designed us to have but one marriage partner...for life.
Exceed his design limitations expect to experience frequent breakdowns
imo
ah. you have returned?
excellent.
we missed you.
How you doing today Laz, my dear.
Promiscuity is damaging psychologically and bad for the state of the soul
