I don’t assume they would be evolutionists, but I think it’s laughable to offer them up as doubters when the theory you are contesting didn’t really exist at the time (and incidently is outside their notable fields).

Presumably you would offer Hippocrates’ beliefs as evidence that the elements are earth, air, fire and water.
