"Only an independent inquiry can do that."

Great sound bite, but I think there is a constitutional requirement of congressional oversight of Federal Agencies. It would be more truthful to write, "Only an outsourced inquiry can do that."

Congressman, I understand that I do not have a right to the truth.

I have a right to listen to whoever I want to pay atttention to, I have a right to my own opinion, and I have the right to speak and publish my own opinion.

Your opinion about the very possibility of an "independent" commission - never mind the desirability of such - is only vaguely interesting. I want a hearing by people who generally agree with my own perspective.

If you want a different hearing than that, I suggest you convene it. If the Democrats controlled Congress as in the old days, that is what the Democrats would have done. I wouldn't have liked that, but I wouldn't have had any recourse. If you find yourself in the same pickle I was in all those years, why then I say, "Good on you, sport!"
