It's not about getting out of this. If he's guilty he should go to jail, but he's probably not guilty. However, the damage is done. Where does he go to get his reputation back? How does he recover the months/years that he was not a leader in the Republican party and had to fight to avoid jail?
It's not a matter of just not going to jail (well it is for him in the immediate future), but as a party it hurts us because the media will run with this forever.
Honestly the best defense is a good offense, and our boys in office have shown very little offense lately. They need to get out and attack the Rats. Kind of a scorched earth policy.
