ABLE DANGER [Kathryn Jean Lopez] In from Specter's committee office: Washington, D.C.--Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, will hold a second hearing on Operation Able Danger on October 5, 2005.
In the initial hearing held on September 21, 2005, the Department of Defense refused to produce five key witnesses relating to the identification of 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta. The Department of Defense has now changed their position and will make the witnesses available in a public hearing. The Committee will focus on obtaining corroborating evidence as to what occurred with the pre-9/11 charts and information which were allegedly destroyed by order of DoD personnel.

Anyone care to wager that Jamie Gorelick and/or Sandy Berger comes down with a bad case of dead in the near future?

It suggests to me that a backroom deal has been struck as to what the witnesses will say, and what they will avoid. Normally, DoD freeing the witnesses to testify would be a good sign. But what bargain has been struck that will decrease the candor and effectiveness of those witnesses?I believe your concerns are well founded, John. I get the same feeling in the pit of my stomach.

If I had to guess I would say the fact the relatives of 911 victims who attended the hearings with Weldon may have got the attention of the adm., plus there was lot of outrage here as well. But who knows.

Do we have confirmed knowledge it was Rummy or is that just rumor?
Tony Snow was talking yesterday that it was only rumor but he was going to attempt to confirm it. His show hasn't aired here yet today.

"Bush has gone out of his way to be nice to clinton from the time that he invited him to his inauguration and allowed him to upstage the ceremony. If the Able Danger evidence was ordered destroyed during the clinton administration, then it's hard to see how the Bush administration can be more than peripherally to blame for ignoring it, because they no longer had the detailed evidence to work with."
Not true. The data was destroyed in 2004. It was during the Clinton administration that the AD team was ordered not to pass the information on.

Nice coordination with W coming back at Slick Willie in another article about BJ's failure to do something about terrorism and dead Americans during his 1990's 8 year orgy. Amazing how that worked; expect team Clinton to be out in force before this warms up.
Carter's unusually weird remarks about Gore winning may signal a riff.

I'm going to suspend absolute belief about anything to do with AD until I see it and hear it. This road is populated with too many potholes and drunk, forgetful and over-reactive drivers. I just don't see Rummy wandering very far from the alleged curious testimonial prohibition ...if he actually did that, he's not known to capitulate.
I WISH with ALL my might that the truth about Bubba and his vipers' malfeasance for the whole 8 years, and especially in their abominable negligence pre-9/11, could be factually released, but I also know that W has the class of a true gentleman and non-vindictive Christian. It's just an infuriating and insidious situation.

I've never seen such studious ignoring of anything by the dems over able danger except maybe chappaquidick. You could add Kofi Annan to your list. The DUmmies have demanded resignations from almost every Bush Admin Official at some time or another.
NOT ONE OF THEM have demamded Kofi resign from their beloved UN, HMMMMMM.

The person who separates him/her self from the herd and publicly stands up to the ranting liberals will immediately become the republican front runner for '08. I wonder if someone like that exists...All in due course. Since the DUmmies are NOT in power in any way at the moment it's kinda fun seeing them basically being ignored, except in the MSM of course. They still think the DUmbocRATs rule everything, especially their cocktail parties.

"I wish with all my might that the truth about Bubba and his vipers'...could be factually released."
You are looking for truth and justice my friend. Sometimes it's hard to find.
The truth about Bubba et all could be released. It would not be the end of the world to do so. The problem then would be it would be spun out of control by the MSM so bad that it could actually backfire on us.
We here and many others know the truth.
There are always insinuations and inferences about Hillary's FBI files as well.
A reasonable man has to ask many questions about the current bush Adm. Why didn't he come down harder on Bubba. Why didn't he clean house of the Clintonistas in the 4,000 odd positions that he could control?
There are lots of questions that are still there, the answers often defy logic.
Not everything in govt. or politics makes sense.

From your keyboard, to GOD's ears!
Able Danger needs more sunlight shown on it, than less. Who knew what and when and who tried to kill it all off? This is far worse than WATERGATE ever was.
To: mware
You may be on to something!.....My thought was Rummy didn't know it was denied...It was denied by and underling, when Rummy found out he OVER road the decision.

The data was destroyed in 2004 Is that so? Somehow I hadn't noticed that detail. Awkward, because even if it was holdover clintonoid sympathizers who ordered it, Bush may deserve some of the blame for not cleaning out the crooks he inherited from clinton. I look forward to learning more.
