Able Danger: Witnesses now allowed to testify (DOD changes mind)
NRO ^

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:02:53 AM PDT by slowhand520

ABLE DANGER [Kathryn Jean Lopez] In from Specter's committee office: Washington, D.C.--Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, will hold a second hearing on Operation Able Danger on October 5, 2005.

In the initial hearing held on September 21, 2005, the Department of Defense refused to produce five key witnesses relating to the identification of 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta. The Department of Defense has now changed their position and will make the witnesses available in a public hearing. The Committee will focus on obtaining corroborating evidence as to what occurred with the pre-9/11 charts and information which were allegedly destroyed by order of DoD personnel.

Must have made a deal. We won't hear the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

"Apparently, Weldon thinks that Rummy may also have some things to hide."

Interesting. I only heard the last few segments of that show. Undoubtedly, the Bush administration has something to hide and Rummy has been doing the hiding for him. I really think the Bush mistakes may have been fairly minor in this. Of course, when it all comes out, the MSM will ignore the fact that Clinton bears 99.99% of the responsibility for 9/11 and focus on the .01% of the fault that is Bush's. Fortunately, the Bush cover-up has not gone on for too long. That in itself can become a problem. I'm just very happy that the cover-up seems to be falling apart. I want to know the truth, and I think it will hurt Hillary.

"By Rummy saying he would not permit open testimony the press jumped all over the story, asking questions. It now guarantees the media will cover it.

Excellent observation of Bush strategery."

Is someone saying Bush did it this way to build up MSM coverage? If that is what is being said, I don't agree.

You may be onto something, my Freeper Friend. There is too much noise coming from the left and conspiracy theories abound. The White House has been suffering these attacks in total silence. When Clintoon popped off at GWB openly, it was time to hit back.

Bush needs to wrap 'Able Danger' around his neck like a dying albatross. The thing will keep flapping and squawking for the next six months. Hillary will be screaming for weeks. Stolen WH crockery will be breaking against the wall.

from the Leftie website that someone else cited to explain who Chambine is---"Moreover, Cambone is despised by many within the Pentagon for his attempts to steamroll all opposition to Rumsfeld's military transformation projects,"

sounds good to me.

""If we find out that someone in the Clinton adm. had the documents destroyed the MSM would report it as "Apparently some low level staffer in a former administration accidentally had the documents destroyed."

Low level like Sandy Burglar. Or if it was Cohen, he will be identified as "Clinton SecDef and former Republican Senator William Cohen""

I'm doubting this can be pinned on low-level staffers. However, I'm fairly sure it will reach all the way to Clinton either. Probably Gorelick is as far as it could go. Presumably, the Clintons wouldn't let somebody do that much of their dirty work without having complete control over her, somehow.

"The person who separates him/her self from the herd and publicly stands up to the ranting liberals will immediately become the republican front runner for '08. I wonder if someone like that exists..."

Well, it is a great political opportunity---in a sense. But remember, the populist side of things is only one half of becoming president. The other half is being a good party soldier.

Someone should have told Clarke that Berger had taken his memos from the Archives. What would Clarke have said then?

Per my previous post, Clarke knew what Berger stole:

The missing copies, according to Breuer and their author, Richard A. Clarke, the counterterrorism chief in the Clinton administration and early in President Bush's administration, were versions of after-action reports recommending changes following threats of terrorism as 1999 turned to 2000. Clarke said he prepared about two dozen ideas for countering terrorist threats. The recommendations were circulated among Cabinet agencies, and various versions of the memo contained additions and refinements, Clarke said last night.

Clarke didn't say squat, probably because, IMHO, Clarke, in his capacity as the National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure Protection, and Counter-terrorism during the Clinton Admin and up until 9/11 in the Bush Admin will also be implicated in AD.

Sorry I missed that. So Clarke's concerns for national security don't extend to Berger's taking his recommendations out of the Archives? I also recall Clarke's statements before the Commission concerning what a great job Berger did on terrorism. Can't say much for Clarke's sincerity.

"Nazgul flying at full flight speed back to the citadel at Barad-Dur to strategize with The Dark Lord of the Thighs."

...you've now created an image in my mind that is going to haunt me for years...

Perhaps you can counter that image with this one, which I find always fills me with peace and joy....

Bush has gone out of his way to be nice to clinton from the time that he invited him to his inauguration and allowed him to upstage the ceremony. If the Able Danger evidence was ordered destroyed during the clinton administration, then it's hard to see how the Bush administration can be more than peripherally to blame for ignoring it, because they no longer had the detailed evidence to work with.

There's another 900 pound gorilla lurking here, too, because it's likely that one reason for destroying the evidence and building the wall was to cover up clinton's treason with China. I doubt whether that issue will be raised, but I think it's there. I'd love to hear a few people who know what happened get permission to testify about what they know.

It was quite shocking to me that Rumsfeld either directly or through his subordinates gagged those Able Danger officers, so I am DELIGHTED to see this change

The whole thing is going NOWHERE. Settle into the wonderful charade.

Thanks for ping. " It may all be coming together in a perfect storm now -- I don't know if this was a rope-a-dope or not, but I sure hope so!!"

Rope-a-dope. Or perhaps roping in the dopes (L/MSM). Sounds like the boilers are being properly stoked. Should produce one hell of a lot of steam. At least all of the stuff we have read in detail since it is public should be presented. Perhaps some folks that never heard about Able Danger shall now get an education. As many have said, once the L/MSM is sucked in, enough will get in print. Two days back, I hardly believed my eyes, PBS Jim Leher report actually gave some five minutes or more display on some of the prelims stuff during the initial Specter envistigation. I never thought I would have seen it. Now millions of less informed people have a clue something taint right. Jamie's wall will be an issue. Still not convinced She, Sandy, Janet, Clark, Cohen, Clintoon would have known about such a project. They had no need to know. This was an DIA activity many in the DoD would not have even been aware of. So why would they have known. At any rate, the issue was not laid to rest as many felt would happen.

Perhaps the POTUS intervened, and gave the green light. After all. GHB has been only kind with Slick, going on golf outings, turning his head every time Slick would cheat. GWB has been gracious in encorporating both past presidents to put them in the lime light, which of course Slick just loves. Then Slick turns around and knifes GWB in the back. Perhaps GWB figured, OK, Slick it is time to turn you into real Shi!.

Hooah!! Put some serious dings in his armor! He is a proven liar, and an impeached ex-President. He needs to crawl in a hole.

His actions were disgraceful and he sullied the office of the Presidency. Yet, he has never admitted anything.

He should have a SCARLET LETTER tattoed on his noggin. But then that would just cover up the "STUCK ON STUPID" sign!
