No worries. McCain does not represent the Republican base.
Dear sinkspur,
I don't think he'll be the first choice of many Republicans at all.
But he might be the second or third choice of a large number.
If Mr. Giuliani actually runs, Sen. McCain will appear positively bedrock conservative next to the former mayor of New York, and if Mr. Giuliani actually threatens to do well, Sen. McCain could actually possibly take the nomination as the "electable" alternative to Mr. Giuliani.

YIKES!! NEVER!!
Amen to that!
Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!!
Never McCain... Never
There's no way in $&%@$# I would ever vote for Judas McCain. And if the GOP would be so stupid as to nominate him for President, they will lose my vote.
This is no idle threat. I don't care who the Democrats run. I am NOT voting for Judas McCain.
Repubs will have no one decent and a household name to run...we're pretty much screwed. I can't wait to secede once the Whore of Babylon wins...
Wish I could argue with you.
Sadly, you are correct.
Libertarians are looking good. Hey, Neil Boortz! Ya there?
McCain will run against Hillary, the conservative base will stay home.....and he will lose. Just as well, it's better to have a commie democrat as president than a commie republican. When CW2 breaks out it will be blamed on the democrats.
only on the litmus test social issues - which neither McCain or Rudy will move the ball on either way if elected president.
gay marriage for example has made its greatest strides - with Bush in the white house. Bush is against gay marriage, that's fine, but so what.
There's nothing paranoid about realizing that McCain is a player, and will be in three years. If he wants to be, Guiliani will be as well.
Somebody else may emerge, but he/she is going to have a big hill to climb.
Repealing both of these would be all it takes to rebuild New Orleans.
a city below sea level does not need to be rebuilt, i think rita will prove that...
Jake..as one Jake to another..I agree..he is a
radical with noting to offer....We need a guy
like Sen. George Allen, past Governor..very well
liked and can hold his own as a Conservative...He
needs more expoisure but he isn't the TV hog
that McCain and some of the others are...Maybe he
will get around to his intereest in running ...at
the right time. Jake
the republican party stands for nothing if it allows the Clintons to walk back into the white house in 2008. if you want to be a part of helping that, go ahead.
Tell that the biggie telecom companies which he usually does great things for as Chair.
As of now, the polls say only he and Rudy can beat Hillary. That's a snapshot, for sure, but, right now, there's two guys leading the GOP pack, and there's everybody else, way back.
What states would Hillary be able to carry that Kerry didn't?
Guiliani isn't a household name?
McCain has health and age working against him.
